Avery's Clock

Kingston Avery, 1703-63, was a Mere clockmaker. One of his clocks is in the Parish Church tower, but now unused. He also did wrought ironwork and the magnificent sign for The Old Ship Hotel was made by him. The picture shows a domestic clock (made by Avery) which, unfortunately, is not in the museum's collection.
