Hinks Mill Farm.
Hinks Mill Farm lies on the southern outskirts of Mere, close to the
Dorset border. It is part of the estate of The Duchy of Cornwall.
It was built as a silk mill by Isaiah Maggs in the early years of the
19th century and after his death, the business was run by his nephew,
Charles Jupe. The mill had an unusually large water wheel, powered by
the River Shreen. The mill closed in 1894 and subsequently became a
farm.
