The Square, late 19th century

The Square in the late 19th century.  On the left, the thatched house and shop was Curtis's grocery, demolished and replaced by what is now Squire's greengrocery and fruit shop. This, and the shop next door (now Finan's) were used by Walton's as their ironmongery department with access to their furniture workshop at the rear.
