Whitmarsh's Forge and Garage

Whitmarsh's forge and garage was at the lower end of Castle Street , backing on to the rear of The Talbot Hotel (now The George Inn). Ernest Whitmarsh, seated centre, ran the business and was captain of the Fire Brigade. This picture must have been taken during W.W.1. The workshops were demolished in 1968 for road widening.
