THE FRIENDS OF MERE MUSEUMRegistered Charity No. 1078395The Friends of Mere Museum (FMM) was founded in October 1990 with the object of : a) raising funds for the benefit of the museum by means of events such such as plant sales, film shows and raffles; b) offering help from time to time with museum projects under the direction of the Curator; c) promoting the study of local history, archaeology, natural history, art and industry in co-operation with other local groups. Benefits of membership of The Friends include an invitation to a private preview of each new exhibition and receiving a newsletter from time to time to keep them up to date with social and fund-raising events. The FMM has four categories of membership. These are;
Annual subscriptions may be renewed by Banker's Order Mandate if preferred. This option makes it easy for people to maintain their membership without the need for annual reminders. It also makes administration very much easier. Gift Aid U.K. taxpayers can, if they wish, to sign a declaration to this effect, which enables The friends of the Museum to claim 28 pence for every pound paid to the Friends as a membership subscription or as a donation. (Members wishing to do this should ensure that the amount claimable by the Friends is less than the amount of tax they pay.)
